A new Hub for one of our most remote sites

Local teens checking out the new Hub

We were really excited to head up to Ngukurr in August to launch their new Hitnet Hub in partnership with Ethos Global Foundation. Following a day's drive south-east from Darwin, we arrived in Ngukurr, which lies on the banks of the Roper River in Arnhem Land. The Hub has been installed in the community's general store and will act as a centre point for a lot of local content, including the Ngukurr News.

Ngukurr is a culturally rich and diverse community with eight to ten heritage languages spoken that are now all endangered. The race is on to preserve and promote them with the Ngukurr Language Centre doing an amazing job. We look forward to seeing how the Hub is used in Ngukurr and can't wait to see the content that the local community produces for their 'My Place' module.
